There is an old Frank Sinatra classic that hits a little differently once you have lived a bit. “My Way” used to be just a song I heard growing up. A track you know the words to without ever thinking too deeply about them. But as I look back on the decisions that shaped my life, the title lands with a lot more weight.

I never planned on becoming a global currency consultant. I never planned on building SportsFX, CB3 or The Currency Advantage. In fact, only a few years ago I was in a comfortable job earning $120K a year. Good money. Safe path. Predictable routine./

Most people would hold onto that. I did for a while too. But something kept pulling at me. Not dramatic. Not a lightning bolt moment. Just that quiet voice you try to ignore. The one that says “this is not the thing you are meant to be doing”.

Eventually it becomes too loud to push aside.

Leaving that job was not logical. It was not part of a detailed life plan. It was simply a moment where I realised that if I did not back myself now, I might never do it. And living with that regret felt far worse than taking the risk.

So I walked away and I went all in on an idea most people did not even understand. SportsFX was a concept. A sketch. A belief that athletes deserved better support when signing overseas contracts. There was no playbook for what I was trying to build. No roadmap. No guarantee of success.

It was just me. My experience as a former player. My understanding of currency markets. And the hunger to build something that mattered.

Those first few years were anything but glamorous. There were weeks when I questioned everything. There were moments where I wondered if I had been naive. There were days where the only option was to keep moving forward because turning back no longer existed.

But here is the part that made the entire journey worth it. Every step was mine. My decision. My mistake. My learning. My progress. That is what “My Way” became for me. Not ego. Not bravado. Ownership. A willingness to shape my own path and take responsibility for the outcomes.

Fast forward to today. I run two global currency businesses. I work with professional athletes, agents, clubs and associations all over the world. I have relocated my family to Thailand. I am building roots in Dubai. I publish a daily and weekly currency publication. I speak to federations that support thousands of athletes. And I get to do it with the same passion that pushed me to take that first leap.

There is still a long way to go. Bigger goals ahead. More ideas to build. More opportunities to step into. But the foundation is the same. I am doing it my way. Not perfectly. Not quickly. Just consistently. With a clear belief in where I am heading.

If there is a message in all of this, it is simple. You do not need permission to chase the thing that keeps tapping you on the shoulder. You do not need to have the entire plan figured out. You just need enough courage to take the first step and enough patience to keep going when it gets uncomfortable.

Looking back now, leaving that job was one of the biggest turning points of my life. Not because it guaranteed success. Because it taught me to trust myself.

And that has made all the difference.

My way. Always.
